Our Modern Farmhouse took home the 2016 Gold Nugget Award for Best Custom Home under 4000 sqft. We couldn't be more proud!
Our Responsive Homes were the feature cover story of Builder Magazine during the 2016 International Builders Show.
The Modern Farmhouse has a roofline that connotes a nostalgia that reminds me of the farmhouses in the countryside where I grew up, but with a unique and modern twist that is eye-catching against the thousands of Tuscan homes found in Henderson, NV. I was dumbfounded at how many people would drive up to stare at the architecture, or even get out and peer inside through the windows.
The rear exterior of the Modern Farmhouse features multiple outdoor entertaining areas that flow seamlessly into the interior heart of the home. The rear provides access to a second story Gen-Smart Suite, which can be used as an income suite, additional living space for a generational family member, or as a fantastic home office space.
Ready for movie night? Just pop up the lounge seating that is conveniently built into the deck, and you’re ready for an at home theater experience that is reminiscent of a drive in movie, but without the car exhaust or crappy speakers. Make-out sessions are up to you.
When you enter the front door, you probably expect to step inside the home, but to your surprise, you enter into an amazing outdoor living/dining area that flows into the homes interior. The BBQ is ready to cook up a memorable evening!
Once you enter the “real” front door, you step into a fully open double-height entry with volume up to the second story ceiling, which echoes the pitch of the steep gabled roof.
Who would expect this large a kitchen in a home that’s only 2,100 square feet? Its rustic and industrial elements are balanced by the use of contemporary “smart” appliances, and materials that bring the nostalgia we tried to invoke into the modern age.
The family room is decorated with rich, layered textures to create a warm, cozy space that is rustic, but in keeping with the mid-century furniture used throughout the home.
Warm and inviting... need we say more?
The master bath is layered with graphic materials, including white subway tiles with black grout, a modern, yet ethnic shower pan tile, and black iron shower doors that are reminiscent of old factory window panes. Wood-look plank tile floors balance the cold surfaces to give the space a layer of warmth.
The second story Casita is a multi-generational family’s dream. Your parents can stay for a short visit, or long-term without anyone giving up their privacy. It can also be used as an Airbnb suite or a completely separate office. It’s comforting for new homeowners to know they have a built-in fallback plan when they take on a new mortgage.
